Donation or a lifetime subscription & Backup locally

Hi there! I just switched from an iphone to an android phone. Upon researching for an apple note app replacement, I found you! Love how simple you are, thank you! Apple note app is free to use and I write down all my thoughts there for years and love that app. Your app is better! Love the tagging system and no nonsense with formatting. I believe I read somewhere that one should not abuse this app and take up too much space. There was another article about using Day One app instead, I do use that app, but it’s not a notes app. I wish it was, so I can have everything in one place. Anyhow, I came here to find out how I can contribute to the app since you offer us free service. Read all the posts about a subscription deal that is no longer valid, but it would be too expensive for me as well. Will there be a Donation or a Lifetime subscription option soon?

Backup on my macbook. Can I? Only asking because I cannot find the answer anywhere. Thank you for all you do! ㋛

Hi. You can create a backup of your notes from the web app, app.simplenote.com. After logging in, open the hamburger menu (upper left), select Settings, Tools, and Export. This downloads a zip file with the current state of all your notes. It includes a json file containing all the data, and separate txt files with the text of each note.

  • Hi! Please note that we don’t have any plans for moving to a subscription model at the moment, but thank you for your offer.

Rest assured, our parent company, Automattic, also runs WordPress.com (among other services), so we don’t have any worries about keeping the lights on :-)
