Data Lost When Changing User On MacOS Ventura
-
Hello,
How may I retrieve || receive data from the app’ used when || before changing the User name of my existing MacBook Air given the Terminal User name is no longer the same? -
Not sure if this helps, but your data is all in the cloud, associated with your Simplenote account email address. You can verify this by logging in with a browser.
Then, whatever you’ve done to change your Mac, you can delete and reinstall the app for your new user. Log in with your email and you should be back in business.

Due to the User name change I am not certain that the Application can associate the information associated with the previous name to the one which is currently being used.
As the notes did not arrive to the app’ after signing in proceeding a Restart, I am considering if it is so that the Simplenote company have a copy of the data associated with the email, rather than Apple ID.
Do you know if or how it is possible to communicate with them directly? -
They usually check in here, and may contact you directly.
But I don’t believe Simplenote pays any attention to your Apple ID or Apple username. Your account is just associated with the email you used to create it. Try logging in to your account on the web using a browser, using the old email and password for the account.

Hi @2vk2dnpx68m! Thanks for reaching out here.
To confirm, you are referring to your Simplenote account notes in this case, correct?
As @johnswift37 mentioned above, the information on your Simplenote account is only linked to the email address you used to create it. It shouldn’t be impacted if you changed your computer login. Can you confirm that if you log in to the web app at https://app.simplenote.com you can’t retrieve your data?
If not, did you change your email address on your Simplenote account also?
Let us know if you’re still having trouble with this.
Thanks!

Hello,
Thank you @johnswift37 & thank you rezzap for writing in response here.
For some reason when first using the Simplenote app’ on the computer I had not created an account & it was still possible to use.
It is the data from that temporal accrual that I am in search of.
Is there a data search || retrieval process possible to do from the company or your position? -
Hi there!
Thanks for confirming.
It’s been a long time since it has been possible to use Simplenote without an account, and this was only possible on Android. Can you confirm you were using an old version of Simplenote on Android? If you were using this on a computer, then it should be that you were logged into an account. Perhaps under a different email address?
If so, you can create an account on the same device from the same app. This should them import your notes from the device to the account. But, if you’ve created the account elsewhere before logging in, then I’m afraid the notes can’t sync.
If the Simplenote account wasn’t connected to an email address, then we wouldn’t be syncing that with our servers and therefore cannot retrieve the information.
Let me know if you need clarification on any of the above details.
