could not log in with provided credentials
-
Hi,
I added the windows app to a new laptop. When I try to log in, I get the error listed in the topic title. I tried to change the password but I get the same error. I have the app on my phone and another laptop and have no issues. For whatever reason, the app on the new laptop does not recognize my email address. Has anyone experienced this issue?

I’m having this problem as well. I use the web app on my laptop and the mobile app on my phone. However, when I try to log in through the app on a new device, it says the same error, “Could not log in with the provided email address and password”, even though it’s the same exact log in I used previously?

I wonder if the operating system on your new devices may implement some enhanced security feature that prevents transmitting the login information.

I’m also having this issue. I logged into the browser no issues but cannot log into the windows 11 desktop app

I’m seeing the same issue – I am currently logged-in on my phone and in the web browser, but when I try to login to the desktop app, after entering my email address, it comes up with the same error message as above – there is no request for password, this happens just with the email address. I am planning on using the desktop app to import txt files as notes. I just have to get past the login screen with my email so it will ask me for my password.

On version 2.32.2 of the Simplenote app for Windows, I also see “Could not log in with the provided credentials” when I try to login. (Although using the same password I can login through a Web browser.)

Same problem here. Login to Simplenote in web or Linux app fail. I use the WordPress Login. In my smartphone works well.

Just to narrow it down, I have a lot of trouble with the captcha, and I think that’s what ultimately fails.

Confirmed. In my case, in Firefox I have to go to the shield next to the page’s URL, click it, and disable ‘Enhanced Tracking Protection.’ Thanks again, @johnswift37.

@yorus Glad to hear you managed to log in! Thanks for the tips, @johnswift37!
For others still having trouble logging in from the desktop app, especially Windows users, could you please check whether you’re using an antivirus or Firewall apps?
Try disabling them temporarily and see if you’re able to log in then.
