command line option for opening with specific tags?
-
I just discovered Simple Notes and am trying to get to know the features. One feature I do not see in the documentation is if there is any way to open SimpleNote on a Linux platform with a specific tag activated. Having installed a Snap installation I do notice the default command activation has a %U parameter, as if there is some argument to pass to the application, but I don’t see any reference to any command arguments to SimpleNote in the documentation.
What I was hoping for is to have different machines opening SimpleNote using different tags, but have access to other tags withing the app when needed. Yes I can search for the tag I need each time but it would be nice to have a default tag so I can just start working.
Q: Is there any way to set up a default tag when first starting up and logging in?

Hi. If you create a note while viewing the list for a given tag, that note will automatically have that tag. If you leave the app open on that list, new notes will have that tag.

Yes, I know this, and that is exactly why I was hoping to open SimpleNote with a default tag based on my system configuration, environment, command line, etc.
Background: I wear many hats, and each role has me using a different virtual machine for that specific duty (Ref: https://qubes-os.org) based on security isolation practices. When I open a virtual machine (personal, development, nonprofit, etc.) for a given role I have SimpleNote automatically opening for me, and I am then wanting to work with a specific tag during that entire session. Each time I start a new session I now need to manually open/search for that tag before even beginning work on that project. So, I was just hoping for an easy way to at least automate this first step so that any subsequent notes would have that proper tag for the role that I am currently doing. Having the system automatically starting SimpleNote with a specific tag would allow me to just start working without fumbling with switching the configuration each time.
If there is a command line parameter that I could open the app with that would be great. If there is a setting in some init file I could set a default tag then that would work as well. I have looked at sncli but that doesn’t help configure the GUI application. I’m just looking for ideas, rather than trying to automate the necessary mouse clicks and keyboard typing needed to tell the GUI App to switch tags for each environment.

As far as I understand, we don’t have an official support for this. That said, I’ll leave this open for anyone else who might be able to help you with this.
Thanks for sharing your use case!
