Can’t login to Simplenote via browsers on desktop.

    I get this error:

    Error: Forbidden
    Access is forbidden.

This is not the case when using a mobile device on the same connection using a VPN, though I can access via the Windows app without a VPN.

I’ve tried clearing caches, cookies, restarting internet connections/routers.

    Any help appreciated

Hi. How far do you get before it fails? Did you use the login method that sends a code by email, or the “manual” method using your password? Did you have trouble with the captchas verifying that you’re not a robot? Or did you login successfully, then see the message?

When you change a note in the Windows app, do you briefly see the “busy wheel” in the sidebar, indicating that the change is synced with the Simplenote server? Or do the busy wheels spin forever, indicating that the server is unreachable?

It occurs as soon as I go to https://simplenote.com/ and click on login at the top right.

I get sent to a white page that simply has

    Error: Forbidden
    Access is forbidden.

The Windows application works fine and syncs quickly

  • @ashetails It seems like your network is blocking the connection to Simplenote. If you’re using your home network, you might find it helpful to check the settings and see if you need to add Simplenote to your whitelist.

On the other hand, if you’re on a public or work network, you might need to contact the network administrator for further assistance.
