Can’t log in

Help! I’m unable to log in using the proper credentials on simplenote.com Instead I receive the error message “The server could not verify that you are authorized to access the URL requested. You either supplied the wrong credentials (e.g. a bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.“
Please fix!

@johnswift37: Is there an estimate on how long it takes for them to contact me on this? I still have no reply to my emails.

We’re sorry for the delay in responding to everyone who’s been following this thread.
We’ve taken note of all your feedback, especially the issues related to logging in and the Captcha problems.
If any of you still face these issues, please don’t hesitate to let us know here.

I’m getting this exact error, on Windows Desktop using Brave & Firefox. I’ve tried clearing cookies.
-
We already made adjustments to Recaptcha, but it seems that those were not enough. I’ve let the developer know that the issue persists for some of you, so they can look into this further.
-
I am also having this problem on Windows, no matter what app and even with clearing cache/cookies. The issue feels like clearly it’s with recaptcha.
-
I am definitely still experiencing this issue as of Apr 29. It didn’t start for me until last week (maybe because I had previously been logged in for a while). I have been unable to log in via Chrome or Firefox on Mac. All are fully up-to-date.
To echo others’ experiences, with my first attempt on Chrome last week, I also experienced the endless captcha loop before failure. In recently attempts on both browsers, I “only” had 2-5 loops before getting the “unauthorized” server verification message others have already quoted in this thread.
Please fix ASAP! Simplenote on my browser is my primary notes for everything I do and is open 24-7 on my laptop. Doing without it for several days already is too long!

Anyone having trouble with multiple captchas sould be sure they have allowed “Cross-Site Tracking”. I suspect the 3rd-party captcha processor sets a cookie which is accessed by the Simplenote server.

Thanks for sharing the tips @johnswift37!
For anyone else, we’re taking note of this and are aware of the problem with Captcha for signing in.
Our team is actively working on enhancing the login experience, as we understand that it might not be perfect at the moment. We’re looking forward to making it better.
In the meantime, please feel free to keep reporting any current trouble y’all still have with signing in and/or captcha. We appreciate it. Thank you.

I have the same problem with desktop login.
One interesting thing I noticed; I asked my friend to log in with his account (on my computer) and it worked perfectly normal. Few seconds later I tried with my account, and I got the same error again.
-
Me too. Can’t get past login screen. Seems like Capthca is not showing and so am stuck on some devices. Right now Firefox on Linux mint.
-
That’s valuable feedback, @steveswartz33! We’ve added your experience to the user feedback we’re receiving.

So I can login in any browser, always. But I can’t login in any app, Android app, Linux Desktop app, Windows desktop app and Mac Desktop app. I can’t login at all in any of these. Funny enough, because I have been really annoyed with that, I have created a new fresh account, imported all my notes thinking that now I will be able to login in the app, but still can’t even on the new account, this is the last straw I will sadly leave Simplenote and find something better.

Hi @peacemysticf5400eadd5! Can you share a screenshot showing the issue you are experiencing? This will help us to troubleshoot. Thanks!

My account has become confused with another account. I have supplied my username (my e-mail address), received a code on my phone, entered the code in the Simplenote login field, and have been granted access to a set of note that are NOT MY NOTES!!! Additionally, there is a pop-up that tells me these note are associated with an e-mail that I do not recognize. An it tells me that I will lose access to these notes if I no longer have access to that e-mail. Well, I don’t have access to that e-mail, and I don’t want those notes. It’s rather bad because this person is storing their accounts, usernames, and passwords here. You’ve got a problem Simplenote.

Hi @stevencking. Simplenote does not usually send codes to allow logins. Have you maybe confused Simplenote with another app?
