Can’t log in

after going thru multiple captcha screens I get – “The server could not verify that you are authorized to access the URL requested. You either supplied the wrong credentials (e.g. a bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.”
HELP

Hello, I am not able to log in via https://app.simplenote.com/login/(error below) or also via the Windows App on my laptop (error:- too many log in attempts. Try again later)?
Unauthorized: The server could not verify that you are authorized to access the URL requested. You either supplied the wrong credentials (e.g. a bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.

Howdy! I am here to report the same problem. I KNOW my password hasn’t changed, or anything.
-
I also have this problem since 13.03.24
I am able to log into the iOS app ok and the mac app, but not via the Simplenote web page.
I think I will begin transferring important notes to a more reliable system and dump Simplenote. -
Hmmm. The Simplenote web app works for me, using Safari on iPad 6, iPadOS 17.4. I wonder if you have an agressive ad blocker or something that prevents the login transaction being completed.
-
reCaptcha causing problems – endless image required to click on just to log in, and then login fails with “Unauthorized! The server could not verify that you are authorized to access the URL requested. …wrong credentials…”.
Support people: please correct his issue quickly. I have a ton of notes I need.

Hello, I am not able to log in via Windows desktop https://app.simplenote.com/login/ (error message noted below), however I am successfully logged in on my iPhone. I’ve tried it on multiple browsers – Chrome, Firefox and Opera – and keep getting the same error message. Each time I tried, the reCaptcha required me to endlessly check images before log in. My email and username have not changed in a really long time – it’s not a bad or incorrect password or credentials.
‘Unauthorized: The server could not verify that you are authorized to access the URL requested. You either supplied the wrong credentials (e.g. a bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.’

I also had this issue on multiple computers using both Chrome and MS Edge browsers. Android App worked just fine with my existing credentials. Finally got it working after I noticed and clicked to accept the cookie notification at the bottom of the page before trying to login. Hope this helps.

Bonjour, même problème impossible de me connecter sur PC W7 ou W10 avec Firefox ou Edge.
Merci de nous aider.

Has anyone tried the fix that I posted above on MAR 18th??
If so, please post with your results.
-
OMG THANK YOU!!!! Yep, it worked!! I had an extension that auto-clicks cookie pop ups on websites to top it, so once I disabled it and clicked the ‘Got it’ option on the cookie notif I could login. Again, thanks, would’ve never solved the issue had it not been for your help!

Same problem here. However, worse, I asked for a reset of the password and get no e-mail. Fortunately I am still logged in by my iPad and Mac SimpleNote apps. But fear to lose all access if this problem is not fixed.
-
BTW 1: This has nothing to do with cookies as I have set my preferences and still login is impossible. I always get “
Unauthorized
The server could not verify that you are authorized to access the URL requested. You either supplied the wrong credentials (e.g. a bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.”
I used the same password as used to access my notes using the desktop (Mac) app as well as the iPad app. Fortunately syncing between those devices continues to work. But the problem ought to be fixed. A pity no one is helping with this issue.
BTW 2: I encountered this issue most of all because I got a security warning as part of the system Security Recommendations from Apple saying that the password would have appeared in a data leak. -
BTW 3: And the same result with various browsers. From all this I conclude it is a problem with SimpleNote.

Problem solved. I needed to delete all cookies first. In Safari: Menu command “Safari -> Settings… -> Privacy -> Manage Website Data…” and then searching for token ‘simplenote’ and removing all data (cookies) for SimpleNote. This allowed me to login.
However, I do not understand why I had the same problem with many other browsers (FireFox, Chrome, Opera, iCab) I am sure I have never logged in to SimpleNote using those browsers, yet was not able to login and cookies are not shared among browsers. This all makes little sense. It also seems that I am no longer able to define cookie settings to maximize privacy. I am rather getting suspicious that someone at SimpleNote has now resolved in the meantime the issue on the server side and that’s the true reason why login has become possible again.
The only problem remaining AFAIK is that in Safari I cannot logout. Only with FireFox do I succeed.

I have a similar issue. I can login and logout on all apps (iOS, iPadOS, MacOS and Windows). I cannot delete the account on those platforms. I cannot login on the web, it says account and password not accepted. I cannot reset the password (the email does not arrive). I cannot change the login email on apps, only on the web, but as I cannot login on the web… This looks like an empty place. I sent emails to support, they are not even acknowledging them.
I wonder whether I should simply ignore this and remove the entry from my password manager.

Hi @turmeric753. Unfortunately, this is a pretty common occurrence. Somehow, the web app does not receive account updates. You need to wait for assistance from one of the hosts on this site.

I tried this: I reset cookies, enabled cookie persistence, accepted cookies (form the popup), disabled adblocker and anti-fingerprint, and still got “unauthorized” after gratuitous chaptchas. am sad.
