Can’t import notes from Evernote
-
When I try to import an enex file, I get a popup which says “A Javascript error occurred in the main process”. Any ideas on why this is happening? Thank you.

Hi. Are you doing this consistent with the help description, https://simplenote.com/help/#import ?

Good. You may want to try a different method – switch from computer to web, or the reverse. The Simplenote web app is app.simplenote.com. Simplenote stores your data in its private cloud server, so notes are available on all platforms, once imported.

@tsimpson28 Can you please let us know the following:
- what device(s) you use Simplenote on to import the Evernote file
- their operating systems and versions
- the Simplenote versions on each
Thank you.

I’m having the same issue when I try to import .enex files into the SimpleNote Desktop on a Windows PC.

same issue – using a really simple note as a more complex one failed (I am very new here trying simplenote out as had a gutsfull of evernote when they pumped it full of LLM code – seriously if its too much hassle I’ll just move on to another product, I see the post about nil active development).
Seems to be looking for the ENEX file in the system32 folder – weird!
exact version of windoze:
Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 25H2
Installed on 05/01/2025
OS build 26200.7840
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.291.0On a Del Vostro 13 5310
Would be lovely if you could fix it, otherwise I’m going back a decade to tiddlywiki
