[Bug] Unable to Use History Function for Notes Created on Windows and Web

When I create a new note on the web version and then edit it there, the history function is not available for that note on the web version itself. However, the history function is available for the same note on both the desktop and mobile versions. Similarly, when I create a new note on the desktop version and edit it there, the history function is not available on the desktop version, but it is available on the web and mobile versions. When I create a new note on the mobile version and edit it there, the history function works for that note across mobile, web, and desktop versions.

In addition to this, I have also recorded a video. The left side of the video shows the Simplenote desktop application, and the right side shows the Simplenote web version. The video clearly records the issue of notes created on the desktop not being able to use the history function on the desktop, and notes created on the web not being able to use the history function on the web.

if I create a note in the web app and then edit it there, the history feature is unavailable for that note on the web app itself, but it works fine on the desktop and mobile apps. Similarly, if I create a note in the desktop app and edit it there, the history feature is disabled in the desktop app, but it is accessible in the web and mobile apps. This issue persists even if I refresh the page, restart my browser, or close and reopen the Simplenote desktop application. However, if I create a note on the mobile app and edit it there, the history function is available for that note across all platforms: mobile, web, and desktop.

I’ve had this post up for a long time—why hasn’t anyone responded or followed up yet???

  • @nianbroken We appreciate your patience here as we have very limited staffing over weekends.

In any case, I’m unable to view the video you shared. It isn’t playing. Can you please check the upload or share it with us again?

@staff-cara The reason you couldn’t view the video I sent is likely because it was recorded in HEVC format, and your computer doesn’t have the required HEVC codec installed to play it back. I’ve now converted the video to a more widely supported format—could you try opening it again and let me know if it works this time?

Hey @staff-cara, could you check if the video is currently viewable?

  • @nianbroken I see that our developers are already looking into your issue here:

    https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/issues/3298

In this case, kindly wait for their updates. I also ask that you please refrain from posting multiple comments/threads asking us for an update here in the forums as it (1) creates additional challenges for the small support team who are maintaining the forums, and (2) puts your forum account at risk of being banned as your messages are being detected as spam. We do check these forums regularly, and we try to respond as soon as possible.
