Bug: Jumping to top on iOS

Weirdly enough, in a similar vein of the android complaint, on iOS 16, I will be typing and my simplenote mobile app will JUMP to the top, often deleting the sentence I’m writing in the process. It’s incredibly frustrating. I checked the Help page to make sure there wasn’t a mysterious shortcut I’m accidentally pressing but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Hmmm. I’m not seeing this (iPadOS 16.6, Simplenote 4.49), but I use only minimal keyboard automation. Try turning off Keyboard features like Predictive, Check Spelling, etc., to see if it helps. Something like that seemed to work in the Android case. Please report any useful results, since they may be clues for the devs.

Correction: this happens to me as well. It seems like there’s an Undo or Redo command being executed when returning to a note from another note or another app. It might be associated with positioning the insertion point, which raises the screen keyboard. It doesn’t always jump to the top, but that’s a good alert that something’s happened. I suspect this may have begun with iPadOS 16.6.

  • Hi there! Thanks for reporting the issue!

The Simplenote servers are having some performance issues. This impacts sync, so characters are duplicated in the app, and the cursor jumps around. The team is still investigating and working hard to restore the service.
