Android: Simplenote stops itself

  Hello! Simplenote stops itself only with some notes, not all. I get an error “the app has restarted” or something like that. I reinstalled it but it stops again after a few minutes. My phone is a Galaxy Xcover 4 (SM-G390F) Android 9 which works fine otherwise. No issues with Linux Manjaro (on my old laptop).

  Simplenote stops itself only with some notes, not all.

  It sounds like those notes might have contain some invalid characters that the app couldn’t process. Since you have no trouble accessing those notes on Linux, can you please check if those note has non-standard characters (e.g., emojis, symbols, etc.)?

  If you found them, please try removing them from your laptop and check if the Android app crashes again.

  I just want to add, are you opening a really large note (>20K bytes)? I’ve experienced the Simplenote app on iOS crashing if the note was too large. The info (i) icon will tell you the size.

  I think I fixed the problem: Simplenote doesn’t like being moved to SD (via AppMgr III)

  Thanks for confirming the fix here! That does sound like it could impact the apps ability co communicate to the server depending on how it’s configured.

  Let us know if you run into this error with the app setup on the device directly.
