Android app stopped syncing, login doesn’t work
-
I’ve used the Simplenote Android app for years without a hitch, but all of a sudden, 2 days ago, it stopped syncing. When I sign out and try to sign back in, it will not accept my CORRECT account password (error message: “Could not log in with the provided email and password”). Signing in via an email code also fails, with the error message “Error requesting Magic Link.” Using the “forgot my password” option returns the same error message. I’ve also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and that seems to work, but syncing is still not working. Strangely, after reinstalling, the app comes back already signed into my account! It’s as if some app data still persisted after uninstall.
The current app version is 2.35 (179), and my Android version is 12 SKQ1.211019.001 (on a Poco X3 NFC phone with MIUI version 14.0.2). Looking at the app permissions reveals NO permissions at all, either allowed or denied. My phone is connected to the internet via wifi, without any VPN or proxies, and the internet connection is working fine, HOWEVER, on the phone I cannot access any of the Simplenote domains — simplenote.com, app.simplenote.com — via the browser. When I try to go to either of these websites, I get the message “This site can’t be reached,” and the information flyout says, “Connection is not secure. The identity of this website isn’t verified. Your connection to app.simplenote.com is not encrypted.” Again, this is not a problem with my internet connection, as I can browse all other websites, besides Simplenote, without any issues; plus, I can access these same Simplenote websites from my laptop over the same internet connection.
I have never seen this kind of behavior from an app or any other website, and I have no idea what else to try. Please help. Thanks!
