Adding Tags on Import

  When importing notes into Simplenote that I exported in Markdown format from Joplin, is there a way to add tags to them before import? The only shortcoming in Simplenote for my usage is the lack of a hierarchical folder structure. Since tags can help make that a lot less of an issue, I’m hoping there’s an easier way to put them in existing notes BEFORE importing.
