Adding markdown (sometimes) renders a blank markdown screen
-
Adding markdown sometimes renders the preview markdown screen blank. If I cut and paste the text into a markdown validator or just cut out the text it works.
I can narrow down the part that has the problem by taking out bits of the markdown text until the preview works. Sometimes just pasting back the original text works!?
Is there a way to show validation in simplenote to highlight any part of the markdown that it does not like? Would be extremely useful as having to do this more and more and on long notes it is very time consuming.

Hi, @nampara17! Which app are you using (iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, web app)? And which version is it?

Using the web via chrome. Seems to be when I put in “my” email address? E.g. the email address I use with the system. Weird, just the addition of the email address makes the whole note go blank?

I also get this problem too in preview mode in some docus and nearly !
Hope soon fix this problem wishes !

@nampara17 I am unable to reproduce the behavior you described. Can you provide a sample of markdown text that did not work so we can test this on our end?

Here is a simple page, basically ANY PAGE that contains your email address will create a blank page: This is all contained on one page.

Yes, I met the same issue. It only occurs on the web and PC versions. the same note’s markdown rendering on the iPhone App has no issues
What I did is adding a code block on the email address.
Hope to fix it soon.

Thank you for reporting this issue!
I’ve gone ahead and submitted a bug report for it, which you can feel free to follow over on GitHub.
@forevercan, thank you for sharing your workaround!

Running 2.22.0 beta and still has the issue?
Please note this is not related to “ANY” email – JUST the email address of the “logged in user“. All other email addresses work fine.

Good news! This is now fixed on app.simplenote.com and will be included in the upcoming 2.22 stable release.
