A Note removed without my consent
-
Hello, I just went to look up something on a note I have used for the past ~5 or so years and am unable to find it. I did not delete this note. It is not in the trash. I have checked the app on the iPhone, the app on my Macbook Pro, and the web app, and it is not on any of them.
I would very much appreciate someone investigating this matter and returning the note to my account. The note is entitled: “Information”

Should also clarify, it was also not overwritten by more information. So Note History is not a solution

Hi @brianta11,
Generally speaking, lost notes can usually be found either in the Trash or in the history of an existing note. We recommend checking the trash and revisions in whichever app you use the most, as well as the web app at https://app.simplenote.com. You’ll want to sort the notes by the last modified date from the app settings before you start checking.
That said, it sounds like you’re not seeing any notes on any of the apps, even when you’re logged into the correct account. In this case, unfortunately, it means the entries you created weren’t synced to the Simplenote servers. If this is your case, I’m afraid we’re not able to help you recover the lost note.
I would recommend giving the app some time to sync your changes to the servers, especially after you edited a long note. Sometimes a network glitch may disrupt the connection from your device to the Simplenote servers too. You may also want to make sure that you allow the Simplenote app to run in the background so it can access the internet to sync your note changes in the background after you close the app.

So where did it go if it doesn’t sync to the server? The app has synced to the server plenty of times since this note was lost. It is only one specific note lost, not all. And yes, it’s not in the trash and not in the revision history of an existing note.

The trouble is that the notes are not a collection of files in a folder. The notes are in a database, so one flubber in a database update can make something vanish without trace. It is literally nowhere.

That’s a major problem. If anything can disappear at any time, then we really can’t trust the app.
